Up Early and Working !

I am up early this morning and already working. I had my coffee, visited Facebook and now am drawing patterns for new pattern packets. The new patterns that I am working on are, Candy Cane Snowie and French Country Rooster with Pillow. Two new patterns that will be ready soon ! I hope to sketch new designs also today for my Painting With Friends. I have so much fun doing this and seeing what they come up with. So much talent ! I am just so happy to have such sweet friends and their talent is amazing ! I'm very proud !

I have finally finished the pattern packet for the paper ornaments ! So many ornaments in one packet ! I had so much fun with these ! Warning ! Glitter is messy, lol. If you like sparkles everywhere you won't mind though, on your work surface, on the floor and even all over you ! I have them still in my hair ! Oh well, everything can't be perfect ! Lavender Lemonade

Lemonade~~~ The perfect drink for July ! A wonderful recipe for Lemonade with Lavender !!

3/4 cup of Honey, 2 1/2 cups of water, 2 tablespoons of dried Lavender, 3/4 cup of fresh squeezed lemon juice, 1 1/2 cups of water , and ice ! mix the honey, and 2 1/2 cups of water in pan and bring to boil, stir until the honey is disolved . When the mixture boils, stir in the dried lavender and remove from heat and let steep for 25 minutes. Strain the lavender from the mixture and add fresh lemon juice and 1 1/2 cups more water. Mix and pour into glasses of ice ! yumm

Lavender sachet: I put some dried lavender into cheesecloth and wrapped it securely and then place in an old linen napkin, which I folded into the shape of an envelope. Then I pinned the tab with a rusty safety pin and inserted a few dried lavender stems into the pin. I have lavender sachets everywhere, in drawers, placed here and there. The smell is so fresh...

Watermelon Fan !

I made this fan this morning. While I was drinking my coffee I made this fun fan ! I used card stock paper and floated Hauser Medium Green for the green area and I used a very light wash of cranberry wine. I dried it with a hair dryer and then folded it. After I was finished folding I pinched the ends together and secured with twine and then I cut out a little heart from cardstock and punched two little holes in it and then tied the heart on with the twine. Then I painted little seeds with black on to the fan on the pink area. After I was finished making the fan, I sprayed it with Deco Art matte sealer finisher. I think this would be a fun project to share with the granddaughters !!

Good morning ! This is how I start each day off, facebook, and coffee.... Dream, shoot for the moon, even if you miss you will land among the Stars !
It is going to be another very hot day. Trying to get used to it, but I just can't. I don't know how many days in a row now that we have had high nineties to 100's degrees. I have a lot of shipping to do today and then back to designing for the holidays !

Hot Apple Pie !!

I know....the weather is unbearable hot and I want to make an apple pie ! Purchased these beautiful Granny Smiths and I want a pie ! Apples and Cinnamon just sound so delicious. Of course I will add a scoop of vanilla yogurt ice cream to the top! I love Ice Cream !!! While my pie is baking I think I will sketch some fall and Christmas ideas ! Happy Painting !!

After a fun day at garage sales I plugged in my eletric candle warmer with a new scentsy wax tart and it is time to relax and think of something special to paint on all my treasures.... I was thinking about my candle warmer , a gift from a girlfriend, and I remembered making my own tarts. I would gather up old candles around the house or buy some parafin and even some beeswax on ebay and I would very slowly melt them and add some wonderful scents from this candle supply: http://www.candlesupply.com/scentcategory.html I would put the wax and the scent into an old crockpot and melt and then spray a little pam on some cookie molds and slowly pour the wax into them. Then put the mold in frig to harden faster... Be sure to keep your crock pot at a warm setting and not hot because of fire danger. Unplug crockpot as soon as they melt if you are finished making tarts. I loved my homemade tarts because I liked the shapes and I would display them in a bowl near my tart warmer.... Now it is time to put my feet up and have a nice glass of raspberry ice tea and relax and design...

Today is the Birthday of Reverend Clement Clarke Moore, author of "A Visit from St. Nicholas"(The Night Before Christmas). I'm in the mood to celebrate by having Strawberries for breakfast and Strawberries and Ice Cream the rest of the day ! I also designed a Santa for you to copy and paint if you like ! It is a free design for you. It is 78 degrees right now and is headed for 96 degrees. All I can say is it is going to be hot, hot, hot. A perfect day for Strawberries and Ice Cream !

Today I had a wonderful lunch at Benedict Street Marketplace. The best part of lunch was of course visiting with my very best friend, Carolyn. We were best friends in highschool and still are.... A very special relationship for sure. For lunch we had Veggie Sandwiches, cream cheese, shredded carrots, cucumbers, pimentos, sprouts, sauteed mushrooms on Marble rye. Also we enjoyed raspberry tea and cold pumpkin soup. Yummy ! Benedict Street is a wonderful meat and gourmet market. She is a very special friend for sure, she brought me a gift, a candle tart warmer and now my studio smells wonderful ! I try to surprise her with painted gifts also. She loves painting !!

Christmas in July

July is a good time to think ahead about Christmas. If I start planning and painting now, I should be prepared. It is 77 degrees and a little breeze, so I am enjoying this morning outdoors, on the balcony, sipping cinnamon coffee and enjoying a waffle with spiced peach sauce, mmmm.....   I recently purchased several things at garage sales last Saturday and I have a pretty good stash. I think I will start on a chicken tea pot... The first thing I will do to the chicken pot is dab Deco Art Multi purpose sealer all over it and let it cure a little while and then basecoat it and then paint a folk design on to it. I hope to have it finished today and listed on ebay.    I love my job, painting and making pattern packets and books. So everyday seems like a holiday !
Spiced Peach Sauce Recipe:   Combine 1 1/2 teaspoons of lemon juice, 2 cups of sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg and two pounds of thawed,  frozen, sliced, unsweetened  peaches .( be sure to save the juice from the frozen peaches and put it into the pan also ) Bring to boil over medium to higher heat and boil until thickened ( ab out 40 minutes to 50 minutes ) stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon. Remove the sauce pan from heat and cool completely. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a month.

Painting Pillows

I love to paint pillows ! The pillows are a very easy surface to find ! They make wonderful decorative items for an old chair to benches ... I have painted this pillow that I found at a dollar store. I painted the pillow with acrylic paints. (I just brushed over it with a neutral color, Toffee, by Deco art and then found a piece of fabric that I had in my fabric stash and pinned it to my pillow and added little ties to each corner ! I then painted the chicken on to the fabric ! I love painting Pillows !!!

It is time to start painting for the holidays ! I am never prepared, like I want to be, but I am

going to start early this year and paint and share some painting tips and also some fun creative ideas for the holidays ! I love painting, cooking and creating and I would love to share this with all of my friends. I hope that we can enjoy painting along with creative crafting fun !!!! I have painted this fun snowie with different color candy canes. I thought about lots of fun things to do with different color canes. You could display a jar full of handmade cloth ones or chunky wood ones painted in the colors of the season or just display a jar of all colors ! Right now I like to display yellow, red and green, for the colors of sunflowers and watermelon ! I love watermelon ! Candy canes in the summer !!!!!

How to make antique roses

I love these roses, they are primitive and sweet and smell wonderful. This is how I made them. I bought some cheese cloth and went outside and clipped some stems from trees or vines, that were about the same length that you would want.
You will need, a little bit of paint, pink, or color of your choice, or instant tea, glue gun and Deco Art multipurpose sealer and glitter, I use, Deco art Glamour dust and your favorite refresher scented oil, I like Birthday Cake scent. Also you might want to tie a ribbon them, or twine and add a little tag, just so many things you could do with them.
I put some pink paint in water and mixed it, and some I made a mixture with instant tea and water.
Just dip your cheese cloth in paint and water mix or your choice, take out wring well and let dry outside or somewhere you don't get it on anything. When dry, cut long strips about 4 or 5 inches wide your choice. They fold that long strip, so that you have the folded edge for your smooth rose petals. Now put hot glue on the end of a stick, or stem and place your cheese cloth on and just start rolling your stem and your rose starts to take form. Roll as much as you want until you get the look you want, I had to practice a lot. When finished, tie a piece of twine at the bottom of the rose to secure, or use a piece of ribbon, add a bell, tag, etc. Now gently dab the all purpose sealer here and there on the rose and pour glitter on the rose and then when dry spray up close on the rose your refresher oil, oh, smells so good, now you are done, So easy. If you make some please post and let me know what they look like, I know there are so many possibilities with these. They look nice in containers, or placed together with a little sweet annie. Who would love to have antique Roses !
